The event will cost $40 to enter and the format will consist of 9 qualifying rounds followed by head-to-head final rounds. The schedule of rounds, players, and machines for the qualifying portion of the tournament will be determined from random placement in preset brackets.

Due to the necessity of configuring brackets and printing tournament material, there will be a designated registration period in advance of the tournament. This will be the only way to register for this event! The registration period will  close at noon on October 30th, and will then enter limited registration to round off the bracket. Paypal is the recommended form of payment.

Games and player configurations will be randomly assigned prior to the event so that everything can run itself with ease. Everyone will draw a number from a hat (the morning of) to see where they are placed within the matrix of players and games. Other than treasury duties (i.e. dealing with money), this tournament will be run by the players, including finding your next match, deciding order, keeping score, recording score and handling any issues that may arise during each match.

Each player will be guaranteed 9 rounds of 4 player matches before the top 12 contestants move on to the final rounds. We will try to make sure you are playing with a new group of 3 and a different game for all 9 rounds. Each match will be recorded with the winner receiving 4pts, 2nd 2pts, 3rd 1pt, and 4th will receive 0pts.

The finals however are going to be different. First off, 12 players will advance with the top 4 getting a bye. In case of any ties at any rank there will be a one game playoff with the winner/winners receiving the higher rank. Rounds will be played best of 5 head to head matches. Games and play order will be chosen by players in alternating order with the highest seed receiving first choice of machine or position. Final rounds will proceed in a single elimination fashion according to the final rounds bracket until there are 4 standing. These 4 remaining players will then go back to group play over 5 games. The higher seed will have choice of 2 machines while the other 3 players will each choose 1. Once the machines are picked the highest seed will have choice of machine or position. After the first game the winner will then have choice of the remaining games or position. There will also be a single 4 player game between the 5th-8th players to determine their final rankings.

Cash Prizes (% of total prize pool)

1st = 34%
2nd = 20%
3rd = 14%
4th = 8%
5th = 8th = 4%
9th=12th = 2%

Pintoberfest 2011

Location: C-Bar.

Saturday Oct. 1 and the finals will be on Oct. 2.

Sign-up is anytime starting at 11 am, the latest time you can sign up is 1 pm. Entry is $40. It gives you 12 tickets to qualify on 5 machines(just like Showdown). As of right now those machines are HSII:TG, JB, JM, Whirlwind and Williams Grand Prix. There are no buying extra tickets. That’s it. A soft cut off will be at 6:00pm, try to be done or down to 1 ticket. Hard cut off at 7, drain your balls immediately and we will record your score. If you flip 1 extra time the score won’t count. Once this round is over the top 8 qualifiers will be done for the day and are in the the finals on Sunday with the rankings of 1-8.

The rest of ya, 9-??? are then going to entered into a head to head bracket with seeding based on your qualifying score. These matches will be played on all games at C-Bar and will be best 2 of 3 single elimination. Once there are 8 players left congratulations, you 8 have made it to the next day.

At this point those 8 will continue there heads up matches for 1 more round, but it will be a single game match. Then the 4 winners will play one 4 player game to determine the 9-12 rankings for the finals. The 4 losers from the head to head matches will do the same for 13-16 rankings. Higher seed will have choice of machine or position for this one game.

Finals will start at 11 am on Sunday and will be played PAPA style.

Feel free to ask any questions but that is the basic idea.

C-Bar Schoolyard Rumble Retaliation 7-10-11 (Sunday)

Are you ready for some team based drunken all day qualifying and 1 ball per player finals, again?  Well it’s going down again!

doctorwhopinball-thumb-540x298-612041

Sorry, had to do it!

Pretty much the same format* only smaller teams (most likely 5 players per team) which means bigger prizes, more battles and even more hate filled rivalries!  It’s going to be held on Saturday, July 9th starting at noon.  Once again it will be held at C-bar.  I want to encourage players to sign-up as early as possible either by telling me, emailing or posting on the site.  I will not be collecting any cash ($20 entry) until the day of.  However, if you tell me you are in, and then get drafted and are a no show there’s gonna be trouble.  This time around it will be Dennis doing the punishment with 1 head butt to the chest.  We’re talking a drunk Dennis too, so who knows, he may get carried away and start taking a few swings too!  Either way, from those that played in the last one, you know it’s a blast.  Let me know if anyone is interested in being a Captain of a team and partaking in the draft.  The draft can either happen Friday night, or Saturday morning before the tourney (10:30ish).

funny-sports-pictures-lance-armstrong-one-ball12

Yeah, he's talking shit. What are you gonna do?

*The way it works, based on a 30 player 6 team format.  Casual Flow all day will make up qualifying.  For those that don’t know, that means 4 player match games, with scoring of 4,2,1, or 0 points based on how you did..  In this case with 6 teams it may be 3 player games though.  Once qualifying is over everyone’s points will be added to make their team total.  Teams total points will then determine their seed for the finals.  Finals will be head to head first team to win 3 games.

6 v 3 and the winner will advance to play 2

4 v 5 and the winner will advance to play 1

During each finals match the top seed will have choice of machine or position for the first game.  Winner of each game will then have choice of machine or position.  Just like last time it is 1 ball per player and a player can’t play again until everyone on the team has played.

Down to rumble:

Eric Hill
Jake McGhee
Fred Franken
Noah Davis
Jeff Gagnon
Aaron Nelson
Mindy Bert
Pat Castaldo
Dennis Brenhaug*
J.D. Yeager*

Ben Applebaum*
Kris Fast*
Emma Eichhorn
Matt Fentress
