12/19/08 Ship Ahoy Gathering

Come gather with friends and loved one and drink booze, curse a little, and maybe some one will get punched in the nose.  Don’t be a shut in from the cold weather, your fingers need to play.  Just think about it, you know you need pinball, and pinball needs you.  Who was there when you lost your first tooth?  That dude from CSI trying to match your DNA, good thing you had an alibi, playing pinball.  What about that time you wished for a new bike?  That little blue bitch genie is the one who gave it to you, now destroy him and save the princess from those cold Arabian Nights.  I remember the summer of ’92, don’t you?  That is when they took our cows, how could you forget.  I think it’s about time we went Midieval Madness on their asses.  Damn I miss my innocent imagination, and I know you do too so let’s all go to the Ship Ahoy around 7 or so and go on our next Great Adventure.  See you all there!

Portland Pinball Map launched, currently in orbit

SSW and I launched the new Portland Pinball Map website last night. The site rules, and everyone should please start using it. The old map is toast, and you won’t be cool anymore if you continue to use it.

This new site has many fantastic search functions! And you can add comments on machines. And you can add and remove machines from locations. And you can put your scores next to machines, so we can track bounties and stuff. And you can do so much more!

I started a thread on it on the message board, so please write stuff on the subject in there or here. I hope you all find the website to be useful, and I hope you all use it a lot.

In also news, last night we inducted three new members: Scoop (long time coming!), Bumpers, and Mystery! That brings our member total to 34. And since Scoop and Bumpers are females, that brings our total in that category to five? I don’t know, but I think so. Progress is progress. It was a fun induction ceremony – beer was swilled and spilled, tiaras were worn, penis-shaped balloons were hoisted to the heavens, and some really weird belts were worn.

Hopefully I’ll get photos of all our most recent adds (dropshot, revtest, videomode, and the three most new, and everyone else still missing) so that I can put their faces onto the profile page.

If anyone has photos from last night, please gimme one or more, and I’ll add them to this post.

The Clinton Street Open

After visiting the establishment and their newly acquired games, I feel it is our duty to pay homage to our wall and hold a tourney at the Clinton Street.  Elvis plays great, as well as Terminator 3.  Champ pub leans a bit to the left but otherwise is in fine working condition.  High Roller was playing smooth, and I am sure the Medieval was up to it’s nasty tricks.  But nonetheless, a victor will arise.  I know it can be a bitch playing there so I, and hopefully a few others, can get there a little early and take all the tables surrounding the games.  Start time between  7:00-7:30 again.  If you will be running a little late contact me so I can still get you in.  Let’s pass the word, there has been good turnouts for the past but it would be nice to get a 16 player bracket implemented and have a nice sized pot!

Weekly Tournament At Ship Ahoy

It’s just your standard double-elimination single game match $5 buy-in winner take all show down.  The event will be taking place as close to 7:00 as possible. However, considering that most pinball players don’t know how to read time it most likely won’t start until 7:30.  Ship’s current line-up is Arabian Nights, Medieval Madness, Indiana Jones, and CSI. Show up early for your practice, once the money is collected and brackets filled out you will be asked to drain your current game.
